Someone help me with this! I have a Far Side flip calendar at work. Just about all of them have been hilarious, some are a bit twisted, and a few have left me scratching my head. Like this one. Scone & a couple people at work said something about the poodle snouts looking like bananas and stowing away... Anybody else have some idea what's funny about this cartoon?

Maybe it's a twist on the legends about how all sorts of snakes and bugs and other creatures arrived in various countries through imported shipments. Plus, Poodles are pretty funny animals.
Yeah, I think it must have to do with how certain spiders made it to NA. I think it's just a humorous substitution of "poodles" for something that would make sense in the context of banana shipments.
Yeah, good points.. but still, I just don't get this one..
Tarantulas made their way to NA by way of banana shipments. This is funny because it's a poodle, a cute curly non-menacing cuddly little poodle. LMAO!!
