Denver and areas around it have been pounded by snow the last two days. It's winding down, but here are a few totals:

Cool, we might get a quick shot of snow Friday. They say maybe 6 to 12 inches here in town but who knows. When we got all the snow and stuff in late December/early January I thought we would not get any more snow this season down here. We got a bit here and there, but no real snows. So maybe one more? We shall see!

The official snow depth reading this morning was under 1" so the record chase ended yesterday with a 2" reading. Too bad, but it has been too warm for the snow to hang around longer. There are still some piles, and north-facing snow is still relatively deep.

We have now equaled the mark for the 2nd most days of continuous snow cover. The tally is 60 days today, matching the #2 number set in 1913. 3 days to tie #1, 4 days to set a new record. Can we make it? With the forecast for the next few days it's quite doubtful that we'll make it. 40s & 50s, partly sunny and windy. We'll see..

The official reading of the snow cover is 4 inches. Five days to go to tie the record, 6 days to break it. With the forecast for the next few days it's quite doubtful that we'll make it. The big storm in the mountains has turned on the winds down here so that snow will be eaten away pretty fast. Even the 2nd place mark is two days away, three to beat it. That's doubtful too but we'll see.

There are 9 days to go to break that record for Denver of continuous snow cover. The last official reading was 4 inches. Down 2 inches in one day. It got cold yesterday and the temp was in the singles this morning and teens today and then warming to the 40s by the weekend. It did snow a couple of inches last night, so the official reading may be 6 inches today. It'll be close.

So the snow storms we had here in Denver are fading away, but not totally yet! Right now we have the 3rd longest time of continual snow coverage. We're at 54 days today. 2nd spot is 60 days (in 1914). 1st is 63 days (in 1984). The past weekend was warm, but some cold will move in tomorrow, and it might snow. So we might set a new mark..
