Review: Loanwize

This post is brought to you by Loanwize. The holidays are going to end soon so you can be sure many people will be finding themselves facing financial difficulties. They no doubt overspent, charged way too much, and now they have to deal with the financial burden of doing these things. The best way to avoid this holiday pitfall is to buy slowly over the year, or save up money throughout the year to cover the additional expenses. Unfortunately few of us do that. That's why you should check out Loanwize. They can help you find the loans you need to ease your financial stress. They offer help with personal loans and mortgages. And more! Everyone needs to borrow money at some time, so let loanwize be there to help you with your borrowing needs.

Woohoo!

Deja vu all over again. Here I am going to the doctor again like last week. Also like last week it is a little while after a storm has begun.

Last week it was cold before the snow started so the roads were not icy. Just snowpacked. Made for FUN driving! Driving on snow kicks ass, driving on ice and/or slush can suck.

This time, it was 60 yesterday so streets very warm and that means ICE. But, ice means much of this:

In 2WD, I got a little past 540 degrees. Really tried for 720 but I saw something smoking a bit so I backed off.

The 4WD on the T gets 10 out of 10 stars! In 2WD the rear wheel drive is what you would expect in less than perfect conditions - squirrelly, it can spin, do donuts, all that. Put it in 4H, solid. Cannot make it slip! 4H served us well! I wonder what 4L is like. Haven't had to try that.

Anyway, here's the tumor the doctor is doing:

Subaceous cyst. No big deal. Think of it as a big zit.

And here's the after:

In between you missed the doctor numbing the area, sticking in a needle, and using some disturbingly violent elbow grease to push out the greyish Silly Puttyish looking puss. Two more photos below...

In the hour or so it had kept snowing pretty hard:

This is a shot of some of the actual tumor material. It's kind of hard to get a feel for it but it's that grey stuff. Kind of like when you were 15 and popped a juicy white zit. Only there was a lot more stuff and it's firmer.

This is the sac that was under my skin and held the grey goo. It cork-screwed around itself so he could remove it through the little hole in my head.

He did offer me the alternative to cut the sac out with the grey stuff still in it (instead of squeezing it first and fishing out the empty sac) but that would have meant caring for a bigger open wound. The bloodiness of that would have been cool if not for the wound. The scar would be neat!

HP and PPP!

The latest Postie Patrol has been posted on PayPerPost’s blog and it just might be the best one yet! They teamed up with HP to offer some fat prizes to the lucky candidate chosen to have fun!

The lady they chose had to go on a multimedia scavenger hunt in Chicago. Too bad it was around –9 degrees that day (with the wind chill)! She had to find some wacky things and take photos or videos of the things using the HP camera. In the end the time starts ticking away, but does she make it? Watch and find out if she does! HP sponsored this post. HP for your Digital Photo Printing needs. HP and PPP rock!

Yeah!

Here we go again, bitches!

Huh?

I forgot one classic quote that I created at the doctor last week. She asked if I exercised, blah blah blah, and if I ate well. I say:

Yeah, I eat well when I'm not eating.

Review: Iraq Report

Check out this new site. We all know the Iraq Study Group Report came out a while ago. Will W listen? Who knows what this freakin jag will do. Bush always says terrorists have not killed anyone on our soil since 9/11. Yeah, you dumb shit, they don't have to come all the way to America. They can kill Americans on their soil. Much more convenient for them! Anyway, back to the site. It is politically neutral. It just wants to gather any Iraq war related stuff in one place that everyone can conveniently go to. Check it out.

Big Headache

Usually ice cream makes me say "meh", but look at this:

Photos Finally

I finally had time to review some photos of the visit to the doctor, the blizzard, and Christmas. I uploaded them to Flickr but I do not like their way of handling comments on the photos so you should open the slideshow in a new window and follow along with the descriptions here.

1 - Wednesday morning about 8am. The storm had started a few hours before at about 2am or so, and there was 4 or 5 inches on the ground. Snowpacked roads but not icy since it was nice and cold. Driving on snow is no big deal, it's when it's icy or slushy that sucks.

2 - Traffic not too bad

3 - Same.

4 - I'm at the doctor. 149 lbs, 96.9 temp, 120/68 bp. The other scribble is about my soon-to-be-four-eyes.

5 - Tools for the physical. Hey, what's that latex glove and AquaGel for?

6 - Here's the doctor freezing off one of the little tumor/goiters.

7 - Taking blood. Over/under for my total cholesterol .. based on that crappy home test .. 230?

8 - Driving home. The storm had been raging while at the doctor. By now there's maybe 6 or 7 inches down, windy, but driving is still super because it's snowpack.

9 - Be that as it may though the traffic is heavy.

10 - Fuckers.

11 - Get this. To get home I only had to go 6.2 miles. Left at 11am. Finally got home at 12:30. Yes, ONE HOUR AND A HALF TO GO 6.2 MILES. Fuckers.

12 - T with the doggies.

13 - Nobody on the road.

14 - Snowy.

15 - Some tables outside the Kaiser.

16 - Everything is shut down. Businesses, malls, Taco Bells, everything. But this liquor store! Priorities I guess.

17 - The parking lots of the Kaiser had cars everywhere.

18 - This is all that was visible on the E.

19 - Snow on top of the E. It would snow more and our total ended up at about 23 inches. Some areas got more, some less. The wind made getting a real measurement hard because of the drifting and scouring. On one hand we had a six-foot drift, but a couple feet away there was some exposed grass.

20 - Snow on the T.

21 - T & E.

22 - back of E. Snow above the bumper.

23 - Tommye after being couped up for two days. Here we finally got the T dug out and went to lunch at a mexican place. Mexican food.

24 - We're actually out?!?

25 - My burrito. Beef & bean. Smothered in Green.

26 - I had not shaved for two days. Here 1/2 shaved, 1/2 not.

27 - Up to Saturday now. Max at the dog park. She knows what "dog park" means so we refer to it as "DP" at home.

28 - Lots of snow.

29 - Honey in it.

30 - She likes it.

31 - Table at the dog park.

32 - Expanse of untouched snow.

33 - Dogs and snow.

34 - Looking.

35 - Snowball.

36 - Honey got stuck under the table.

37 - Chipotle. Barbacoa.

38 - It was good.

39 - We went up to Evergreen for Christmas.

40 - Tree.

41 - For opening the gifts on Christmas morning we started a killer fire. So warm.

42 - Shoveling the deck.

43 - Nice view.

44 - Me

45 - Again.

46 - She loves it.

47 - See the table? Evergreen got around 40 inches of snow, and this picture was taken on Monday afternoon, many days after the storm ended so you can see they got dumped on.

48 - Max gets some attention from Dave.

That's it.

Kobayashi!

We were watching the cinematic masterpiece Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby last night. Kobayashi gets a mention:

Video clip

There were some good quotes throughout the movie. Here are a few:

Ricky Bobby: If you ain't first, you're last!

Ricky Bobby: You can't have two number ones.
Cal Naughton, Jr.: Yeah, 'cause that would be eleven.

Carley Bobby: If we wanted two wussies, we would have named them Dr. Quinn and Medicine Woman!

Texas Ranger: Old man, I'm gonna come at you like a spider monkey!

Reese Bobby: Hey shut up you little pot-licker I'll stick you in a microwave!

PPP RockStartup!

You might remember my previous posts about RockStartup, payperpost's reality tv series they are filming to document the company’s path from web 2.0 startup to advertising's biggest thing. As you know ppp gets bloggers to post ads on blogs. It is a great thing and everyone involved ends up happy.

Anyway, ppp posted their latest RockStartup episode on YouTube. Britt and Veronique head to Las Vegas for a trade show. Britt is worried about bringing a techie to a trade show to schmooze with clients. But you will see Veronique hold her own at the show and out on the town afterwards. Everyone has a good time! Big Dump

The storm is moving out. Snowed hard and non-stop from Wednesday at like 3am to now! Still snowing but not for too much longer. There's about 2 feet here.

Review: Credit Cards

I am sure we all have credit cards. It is very easy to get a credit card, or more than one, today but many people out there do not know how to handle the "free money". Credit card debt is at an all-time high. To learn how to handle it before you get in to trouble, go here for the latest credit card news and credit card advice. We carry a balance on one of our cards. Just "sort of" because the card is a 0% card. Too many people have multiple cards with balances and they pay interest rates of 17%, 18%, 19%, 20%, or even more. That is foolish. Read about it.

Storm Update :)

Remember my first storm post last night? Well, the big L moved right where we want it!

See the L in the middle of the line of Ls? It's on the Texas-Oklahoma panhandles. That's the perfect spot! Hopefully the storm slows and we get pounded. With snow.

And look:

Travel will be near impossible. That's rich! Never seen a government forecast say that.

Review: Cholestycare

Drop 10 points every 10 days! As you may recall my cholesterol level has been on my mind recently. A while back me and this guy at work took one of those instant cholesterol tests. The tests were inconclusive but he had a blood test the week before and his was 260! That's high so he should check out Cholestycare High Cholesterol Remedy, an all-natural cholesterol remedy. It was formulated using nanotechnology which means it is effective. How effective? Well, 99% effective in lowering cholesterol levels that are high. It's all-natural so there are no harsh drug side-effects. So see what Cholestycare High Cholesterol Remedy is all about!

Big Storm?!?

So the weather guys here are calling for a big winter storm through Thursday, lots of snow, cold, all that. But above is a shot of the current map as of 9:30pm.

In Denver we'd hit big if the L (that you see in the map just to the left of center) was located a little farther southeast. As you all know a low (L) spins counter-clockwise so it pushes the moisture against the front range and that in the winter spells BIG SNOW. But the L is not in that place. We shall see what happpens. My appointment is tomorrow.

Review: Home Equity

If you are in a position to own your home that is super. Being able to deduct the interest you pay is a great benefit. But an even greater benefit is building equity. If you are thinking of tapping the equity, this site will give you all kinds of info about a home equity loan. We have one – maybe more of a line of credit. It's great to have that safety net in place. Check them out!

T Minus 12

It's about 12 hours until I go to the good doctor. I'm going to have her look at 4 things:

1. The blood test, mainly for cholesterol but a full profile
2. Forehead tumor #1. AKA the goiter
3. Forehead tumor #2. I think it's the same thing as another spot I had removed in 1994. I wasn't called Melanoma Man for nothing!
4. Big mole by my belly button. I think it hasn't changed in 10 years, so should be fine but you never know.

That's the list. We'll see how it goes.

Cholestelow

You know I am sure that my cholesterol level has been on my mind recently. A while back me and this guy at work took one of those instant cholesterol test. Review: Alloc Flooring

As you know we have two doggies. A while ago we also had carpet. One day Maxine had a doggie digestive tract, shall we say, reaction to something. On the carpet. In multiple places. So we went out and bought and installed laminate flooring. I don't think we'll EVER have carpet again! And with dogs, how could anyone have carpet! Now we know. We didn't know about it then, but had we known of Alloc Laminate Flooring we'd have given it consideration! Check it out!

Live to Golf!

My grandparents lived on a golf course in Panama City Beach, Florida before they moved to a golf community in Orlando. They lived in Bay Point, a golf community that had two sweet golf courses. It was great being on the course. When I would be visiting you'd wait until 6 or 7 in the evening, hop in their golf cart, and play 9 or 10 holes. They lived on the 4th tee and conveniently also by the 15th green so in the summer you could play 4 through 15 if you wanted. I don't know the legality of it, but it was fun!

PPP Goes Full Disclosure

Has Hell frozen over?!? Michael Arrington who writes for the blog TechCrunch has been pretty harsh when writing about PayPerPost. How it’s the devil personified, terrible idea, blah, blah. Whatever to that. But in his latest post he breaks the news about PayPerPost now finally requiring that bloggers now disclose that they are posting advertisements for which they are paid. The disclosure can be made a couple of ways: either it can be prominently displayed site wide or it can be on a per post basis.

This will not affect things here too much. You all know what I’ve been doing so it’s no big deal to me. The idea of blog advertising is just fine. Oh, and in the interest of full disclosure this is a paid advertisement.

Rockstartup!

In the past couple of weeks you have surely read many posts here touting different things. It is all part of the PayPerPost network where you get paid to blog about the things you love. It’s so easy. Want to join in? Click the affiliate link on the right side, sign up, and start getting paid!

PayPerPost is a new company founded by Ted Murphy. He got some startup capital and he is taking this big time! They have been filming the trials and tribulations of the startup fun and have made a few episodes of their brand of reality tv. They already have released three episodes, and a fourth is on the way in a couple of days. I have watched the three episodes and it’s quite interesting. Viewers really get a feel for how hard it is to setup an online company such as PayPerPost. It would have been cool if they had filmed the early days before the capital infusion, but you can still get a good insider view. If you don’t have time to watch the episodes now, you can download each oe and save it in whatever format you wish: HD, letterbox, PSP or iPod. That’s a great idea! Ted’s a thinker. Get onboard the ride now!

Yum

So I've seen the commercials and have been wondering how this 90-second rice works...

M-E-A-T

Nice presentation, yes?

Overall the just-tear-the-bag-and-microwave-it-for-90-seconds rice pilaf was not too shabby. It was kind of gummy but a good idea I guess. Probably wouldn't want it again.

Loving PPP!

PayPerPost is really great! What's not to like? You log on their site, find an "opportunity", write about it, they review it, and they pay you for it! The "opportunities" they have posted are usually something related to the content of your blog so it's a perfect match! Not only do they pay you for a simple post, but they have an incredible affiliate program which lets you spread the PayPerPost word to other bloggers, they put their ads on blogs, and you can get paid for that! I've said it before and I'll say it again: it's a win-win-win situation. You win, PayPerPost wins, and the sponsor wins! Everybody wins! Can’t beat that!

I like this new Pay Per Post thing you've got going because it forces me to figure out which entries are yours and which ones are "their's".
Like this one...Does Skinnyboy really know someone who's going to see Barry Manilow? And if he did, you know he'd be going too. This is definitely a fake entry.

Freakin' Dave doesn't miss a thing! All you people who took things just a wee bit too seriously, lighten up! Liz kind of played a similar game a month ago. Oh, and I really really really wanted to go see Barry, but couldn't. But I do have all his CDs right here so I can get my freak on. ...At the Copa. Copacabana...

Mo Money

A few days ago I posted about PayPerPost and the affiliate program link on the right side of this site you should click to start getting paid for what you would do anyway: post on your own blog. The way PayPerPost works is so cool and so easy! If your blog meets some qualifications you go to the PayPerPost site and select an opportunity to write about. You compose the post, being sure to include whatever link that is specified, and get paid!

The website has a convenient dashboard where you can see your paid posts and keep track of the money you have been paid! It’s all about the Benjamins, baby, so get with it! If you use the affiliate link I’ll hook you up!

Going to Las Vegas!

I'm not. But T and her mom are. To see Barry Manilow. At the Las Vegas Hilton. I am hanging with the dogs at Casa E-Shizzle. Let's see what whacky situations and hilarious hijinks I can get in to.

Don't Miss That Call!

If you still have plans to buy gifts this holiday season time is running out. And it is running out fast! This guy posted a pretty good review about buying cell phones for girls. He did it in a Top 5 format. His Top 5 are: LG Chocolate Pink, Samsung E900, Nokia 6111, Motorola KRZR K1, and the Samsung D900. All good choices if you are looking for one.

Videos Again

I have uploaded to YouTube two videos. These were segments on Unwrapped. Video #1 is a piece on the Hardee's Monster Thickburger. Video #2 is a report on the Carnegie pickle contest from 2004 I believe. Appearances by Ed Jarvis, Brian Seiken, Don Lerman, and glimpses of Kevin Lipsitz and Badlands Booker.

Yee Haw!!

Is this sweet or what? Earlier I posted about going to Florida to watch the Boston Red Sox at spring training. When I was looking for that stuff I came across some tickets to the Pro Bull Riders Finals at the National Finals Rodeo is Las Vegas! Yeah, man, that would be a fun time in Las Vegas! The 2006 event at the Thomas & Mack Center just wrapped up this past weekend and I do not know when the 2007 event is specifically but it is probably around the same time. Sure, all eyes are primarily on the bull riding at a PBR shindig, but there is so much more! There is a beauty pageant, a Christmas Market, livestock auctions, and a hoedown. Who doesn’t love a hoedown!

Could it be in a better city? My word, if you get tired of all the PBR action at the rodeo then head for the Strip. The people watching cannot be beat. Lots of interesting characters that I bet have some great stories to tell. Tommye and her mom are going to Las Vegas this weekend to go see Barry Manilow. In 2007 the rodeo folks should book Barry for a performance. When you think of Barry Manilow you naturally think of manly men riding 2-ton bulls and washing their faces with dirt.

Spring Training Here We Come!

Ever since the Boston Red Sox had their magical season a couple of seasons ago that ended in their triumphant and emotional win in the World Series, I have been dying to get down to their spring training site and take a look at the new talent before the season begins. OK, not so much for me but for Tommye. She is the ultimate baseball fan. I have scoured the web for Boston Red Sox Spring Training tickets. She cannot wait to get to Ft. Myers in Florida where the Sox train.

The stadium is done in a pure Florida style, with a main covered grandstand and palm trees past the outfield fence. There are two sections separated by a concourse: the section closest to the action contains box seats and the section past the concourse contains bleachers. That will be cool – the architecture for me, and her beloved Red Sox.

OK, another quote from the calendar. This may be one of the best yet.

"The United States has no right, no desire, and no intention to impose our form of government on anyone else. That is one of our main differences between us and our enemies." – February 2, 2005. Editor note: my head just flew off my body.

Reindeer Arm Wrestling

If you have not seen this, you have got to go check it out! Reindeer Arm Wrestling. This brought to you on behalf of OfficeMax. And bonus! There are 19 other great holiday selections. The Elf Yourself was featured here in the news. Get ready to waste some time! I like the Roast A Turkey myself!

The Third W

I have a calendar at work that features quotes from speeches made by our esteemed leader. "The Very Curious Language of George W. Bush." Indeed. Here is the quote from November 16:

"Iraqis are sick of foreign people coming in their country and trying to destabilize their country." – May 5, 2004. Speaking in Washington, DC.
